Zenless Zone Zero How It Become My Favorite Game ever?

I usually don't play many games, but in 2024 I started playing Genshin Impact. It was awesome at first — I really love the medieval-fantasy-era type of storyline it has. But after a while I got fed up with it. Collecting artifacts and the endless farming just takes too much time, and it slowly turned from fun into a chore. One more reason I lost interest: my favorite character, Raiden Shogun, got nerfed. That hurt more than I expected.

My next gacha game was Wuthering Waves. This game is genuinely good — I started playing when it first released, but gradually I couldn't put in much time. Honestly, the only reason I even started was Shorekeeper. She is one of my favorite characters of all time. I still play it now and then alongside ZZZ, so it never really left my rotation.

Then I tried Honkai: Star Rail. It was easier to play because of the auto-battle modes, and it's a good game — but it never clicked for me. I can't even explain the reason. Sometimes a game is objectively good and still not your game. With three gachas fighting for my time, something had to go, and Star Rail was the one I removed from my daily list.

Then one YouTube Short changed everything

One day I randomly saw a YouTube Short about Trigger, a character from Zenless Zone Zero. That was it. That one video sent me straight to the download button.

In the beginning it felt weird — I mean that in a good way. The character design and art style are unlike anything in the other games I'd played. Everything being full 3D with that much personality felt genuinely refreshing. But the most fascinating thing in this game is:

It's the storyline that is the best for me.

This was the first time I saw this type of character-speaking design in a game — the comic-panel style dialogue scenes. First time I saw it I was like… okay, this is really fascinating. It's super fun, and the cartoon-style animation fits the game perfectly. Every cutscene feels like watching an anime episode instead of skipping through text boxes.

Why ZZZ won

• Story first — it actually made me care about the characters instead of the meta.

• No burnout grind — dailies take minutes, not hours of artifact farming.

• Style everywhere — the art, the music, the comic panels, the animations. Nothing else looks like it.

Honestly, I can't fully express why I like it — but the storyline, the animation, everything about Zenless Zone Zero just feels exciting to play. And that's the whole point of a game, right?

So this is how ZZZ became my favorite game of all time.
