They Betrayed the Wrong Gacha Addict — My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha Season 1 Review

They threw Light into the Abyss expecting him to die. Instead, he came back at Lv.9999 with an army, a kingdom, and enough petty revenge to make every arrogant villain beg. Exactly my kind of chaos.

They Betrayed the Wrong Gacha Addict — My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha Season 1 Review

Spoiler Warning: This review contains spoilers for Season 1 of My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I’m Out for Revenge!

They Really Betrayed the Wrong Gacha Addict

They thought throwing Light into the Abyss would solve their problem. It created a much bigger one.
They thought throwing Light into the Abyss would solve their problem. It created a much bigger one.

I already love revenge stories where an innocent protagonist gets betrayed, becomes ridiculously powerful, and comes back to make everyone regret what they did.

So this anime basically looked at me and said, “Here, have exactly what you want.”

Light starts as this innocent human kid traveling with the Gathering of Races. He genuinely trusts these people, only for them to suddenly reveal that they were investigating whether he was the mysterious “Master” and then try to kill him.

And their biggest mistake?

They threw a guy with Unlimited Gacha into the Abyss.

Bro was already basically a gacha addict, and they sent him into the place where his Gift could pull absolutely broken characters. 😭

Three years later, Light isn't some struggling survivor hiding underground.

The man has a palace.

An army.

An entire civilization.

And companions at levels like 7777 and 9999.

At that point I knew this wasn't going to be a normal revenge anime.

This was going to be bullying.

And I was completely ready for it.

Lv.9999 Completely Removes the Question of “Can He Win?”

Light didn't just survive the Abyss. He turned it into his own kingdom.
Light didn't just survive the Abyss. He turned it into his own kingdom.

Normally, making your protagonist this overpowered can completely kill the excitement.

Light is Lv.9999. Mei is Lv.9999. Nazuna is Lv.9999. Aoyuki and Ellie are monsters too.

Most people on the surface aren't even remotely close.

But strangely, that became one of my favorite things about this anime.

Because the question isn't really:

“Can Light defeat this villain?”

Of course he 🍩 can. 🤣

The real question is:

How long will it take this idiot to realize how screwed they are?

And that is where the entertainment comes from.

Every revenge target starts with so much confidence. They look down on humans, brag about their strength, insult Light, bring out their strongest abilities and genuinely believe they still have a chance.

Then Light reveals a little more power.

Confidence becomes confusion.

Confusion becomes fear.

Fear becomes begging.

And eventually somebody receives their complimentary invitation to the Abyss. 💀

That formula should have become repetitive.

Somehow, I kept enjoying it every single time.

Garou Showed Me Exactly What Kind of Revenge Anime This Was

Garou came expecting to hunt a helpless human and discovered a Lv.9999 nightmare instead.
Garou came expecting to hunt a helpless human and discovered a Lv.9999 nightmare instead.

Garou was the moment I completely understood what this anime wanted to do.

This guy had all that confidence until Light started revealing what he had become.

Garou brings out Fenrir?

Cool.

Light basically responds with, “That's cute. Here's mine.”

And his is Lv.9000. 😭

Then comes the Lv.9999 reveal and suddenly this arrogant 🍩 is practically a crying baby.

THAT is what I wanted.

I don't want every revenge target getting instantly one-shot before they understand what happened.

Let them talk.

Let them brag.

Let them believe they can win.

Then slowly remove every bit of confidence from their face.

It's disrespectful revenge on another level, and I loved it.

This World Somehow Made Me Hate Almost Every Race in It

Being human in this world feels less like belonging to a race and more like spawning on nightmare difficulty.
Being human in this world feels less like belonging to a race and more like spawning on nightmare difficulty.

The deeper I got into this anime, the more 🍩 up its world became.

Humans are at the bottom.

Other races casually talk about them like they're pets, slaves, experimental material or disposable entertainment. Sometimes someone hurting a human barely even seems to register as something morally wrong to them.

There were moments where I was genuinely sitting there thinking:

This world needs Eren Yeager. 😭

The Kyto and Yanaaq arc especially 🍩 me off.

Watching them hunt and experiment on humans like their lives meant absolutely nothing made me desperate for Light to arrive and cook both of them.

And then there were Miya and Elio.

Those two genuinely hurt.

Seeing these weak young human adventurers caught against enemies they had almost no chance of defeating reminded me why Light being overwhelmingly powerful doesn't make him completely unlikable.

He is terrifying to the people he hates, but he still protects innocent people.

That difference matters.

He didn't become someone who simply wants every living thing outside the Abyss dead.

He knows what it feels like to be treated as worthless.

And increasingly, his power becomes something that can stop other humans from experiencing the same thing.

Light's Abyss Family Is Half the Reason I Enjoyed This So Much

Light pulled an army from Unlimited Gacha and somehow ended up creating the strangest overpowered family imaginable.
Light pulled an army from Unlimited Gacha and somehow ended up creating the strangest overpowered family imaginable.

I expected Light's summons to basically be powerful servants standing around waiting for commands.

I did not expect them to become one of my favorite parts of the anime.

Mei has that elegant, completely loyal maid energy while being powerful enough to terrify almost anyone on the surface.

Ellie looks calm and intelligent until you realize she might actually be one of the scariest people in the entire group.

Mera is basically nightmare fuel delivered with a smile.

Gold and Nemumu arguing with each other gave the surface team some much-needed comedy.

And then there is Nazuna.

My adorable ticking time bomb. ❤️🤣

Nazuna is ridiculously powerful, ridiculously cute and sometimes seems far more interested in having fun than understanding how much destruction she is causing.

That's exactly why I love her.

Light somehow collected enough Lv.9999 monsters to conquer nations, yet half the time they feel less like a military and more like the world's most dangerous dysfunctional family.

The White Tower Was Basically PvP Matchmaking for Light's Servants

The White Knights entered Light's tower believing they were the elite. Unfortunately, the tower had a matchmaking system.
The White Knights entered Light's tower believing they were the elite. Unfortunately, the tower had a matchmaking system.

The White Tower arc might be the funniest part of the entire season.

The White Knights enter this place believing they're some incredible elite military force.

Then they split up.

BRO.

Fantastic decision. 🤣

Meanwhile Light is basically sitting on his throne while his servants turn the invasion into ranked PvP.

Mera.

Ice Heat.

Suzu.

Jack.

These aren't even Light's main Lv.9999 monsters. They're around Lv.7777 and they are still completely ridiculous compared with the White Knights.

I started calling the White Knights mops, because that's basically what they became.

They entered the tower.

Light's people used them to clean the floors.

Some of them eventually became charcoal too. 😭

Jack Is Just That Bro ❤️

When your opponent is trying his hardest and Jack looks like he's giving a beginner combat lesson.
When your opponent is trying his hardest and Jack looks like he's giving a beginner combat lesson.

I have to give Jack his own little section because I 🍩 loved this man.

He's just a bro. ❤️🤭

While everyone else has these dramatic personalities and insane abilities, Jack walks around with this calm mentor energy.

Watching someone launch attacks at him while he casually deals with everything felt disrespectful in the funniest possible way.

He wasn't fighting like somebody whose life was in danger.

He looked like an experienced guild member helping a new player understand the tutorial.

That's the kind of side character I immediately love.

“I Am the Apex Predator.” — Famous Last Words

Hardy believed there was no predator above him. Then matchmaking assigned him Nazuna.
Hardy believed there was no predator above him. Then matchmaking assigned him Nazuna.

Hardy was introduced as this incredibly powerful leader of the White Knights, above Lv.3000, with his Silent ability and all the confidence of someone who genuinely believed he was at the top of the food chain.

Then his opponent was Nazuna.

Lv.9999.

😭

This man was talking about being the apex predator while standing in front of a cute nuclear warhead.

Nazuna cuts through his defenses and causes ridiculous destruction.

Then she gets told off because she's damaging the tower.

So what does our genius do?

She puts away the sword.

AND BEATS THE 🍩 OUT OF HIM WITH HER FISTS INSTEAD. 🤣

The wall still gets destroyed.

At that point Ellie's biggest problem wasn't whether Nazuna could defeat Hardy.

It was the 🍩 repair bill.

Nazuna really is a ticking time bomb.

But a cute one. ❤️

Sasha's Revenge Was Petty on a Completely Different Level

Sasha spent years believing Light was dead. Unfortunately for her, Light had three years to prepare the return visit.
Sasha spent years believing Light was dead. Unfortunately for her, Light had three years to prepare the return visit.

Sasha's revenge was probably the one I was waiting for the most.

She was directly involved in Light's original betrayal, and watching her slowly realize who Dark actually was felt so satisfying.

But I also got annoyed during this fight.

Light is Lv.9999.

We know he can absolutely wipe the floor with Sasha and Mikhael.

Yet he keeps letting them pull out another artifact, another ability and another little bit of hope.

At one point I was basically screaming:

BRO, YOU ARE LEVEL 9999. END THIS 🍩.

But I also understand why Light does it.

He doesn't only want these people defeated.

He wants them to understand despair.

And Mikhael showing his true colors when everything collapsed was perfect.

Suddenly the engagement meant nothing.

Suddenly Sasha was on her own.

Suddenly everyone was looking for excuses.

That's something this anime does really well: corner horrible people long enough and eventually all that confidence disappears.

Keeping That Arrow for Three Years Was 🍩 Savage

Three years in Light's inventory. One purpose: return to sender.
Three years in Light's inventory. One purpose: return to sender.

This might be my favorite tiny detail in the entire revenge.

Light kept the arrow Sasha shot into his leg during the original betrayal.

For THREE YEARS.

Bro had an entire kingdom to build.

He leveled himself to 9999.

Pulled an army.

Created a palace.

Planned revenge against multiple races.

And apparently somewhere in his inventory was still:

Sasha's Arrow ×1

Quest Item

Cannot Discard

Purpose: RETURN TO SENDER.

😭😭😭

Then after completely breaking Sasha's confidence, Light shoots that exact arrow back into her leg.

That's not normal revenge anymore.

That's dedication.

Lv.9999 power. Lv.99999 grudge-holding.

Savage.

Ellie Entered Hardcore Mode Against the Elf Kingdom

Ellie looks like the reasonable member of Light's family right until international diplomacy begins.
Ellie looks like the reasonable member of Light's family right until international diplomacy begins.

I underestimated Ellie.

BADLY.

Nazuna is scary because she looks like someone who could accidentally destroy your house while having fun.

Mera is scary because… well, look at her.

Ellie is different.

She's calm.

She talks normally.

She thinks things through.

And then suddenly she's threatening an entire Elf Kingdom. 😭

Watching her confront the Elf Queen after the White Knights were already destroyed was badass.

Then she starts digging through the Queen's memories for information.

At that point I realized Light's kingdom doesn't only have overwhelming fighters.

They have someone for 🍩 everything.

Need physical destruction?

Nazuna.

Need someone handled elegantly?

Mei.

Need nightmare fuel?

Mera.

Need information directly from somebody's brain?

Ellie: “I'll have a look.” 😊🧠

The elves spent so long looking down on humans.

Now their Queen is being completely dominated by someone serving the human they would have considered inferior.

That reversal was incredibly satisfying.

Somehow Light Became Abraham Lincoln of This World 🤣

From “maybe I should destroy this world” to Abraham Lightcoln — character development I wasn't expecting.
From “maybe I should destroy this world” to Abraham Lightcoln — character development I wasn't expecting.

This is probably the funniest realization I had near the ending.

At first, I could completely understand Light wanting revenge against the entire world.

Look at what this world did to him.

Look at how humans are treated.

Look at what happened to his village.

But Light doesn't simply become a mindless destroyer.

By the ending, his power is also being used to protect humans and push back against a system where other races can treat them like property.

Bro basically became Abraham Lincoln of the fantasy world. 🤣❤️

Except Lincoln didn't have a collection of Lv.9999 women standing behind him.

Imagine the negotiation:

“Humans will no longer be treated as slaves.”

Elf Kingdom: “And if we refuse?”

Ellie: 😊

Nazuna: 🤭⚔️

Mera: 🍽️

Mei: ☕

Elf Kingdom:

“…where do we sign?”

Welcome to the age of Abraham Lightcoln. 👑😭

My Biggest Problem: Sometimes Light Needs to Hurry the 🍩 Up

When you're Lv.9999 but still somehow turn a five-minute beating into a full boss battle.
When you're Lv.9999 but still somehow turn a five-minute beating into a full boss battle.

I enjoyed the revenge, but this is also where the anime occasionally frustrated me.

Sometimes Light drags things out way too much.

I understand that he wants his enemies to experience the same despair he once felt. That's basically his entire revenge philosophy.

But there were moments where I knew he could finish everything instantly, and watching a villain pull out their third supposedly secret weapon started becoming annoying.

Sasha's fight was probably the biggest example for me.

Another weakness is that the enormous level difference removes most normal battle tension.

When Nazuna is fighting somebody around Lv.3000, I am not exactly sitting there worried that my girl is going to lose. 🤣

But strangely, that didn't ruin the show for me because I wasn't watching primarily for unpredictable battles.

I was watching for the moment arrogant people realized:

“Oh 🍩. We picked the wrong human.”

And the anime delivered plenty of that.

Final Thoughts — Exactly the Kind of Revenge Trash I Enjoy ❤️

Light lost the people he trusted and found something much stronger waiting for him in the Abyss.
Light lost the people he trusted and found something much stronger waiting for him in the Abyss.

My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha isn't some incredibly deep masterpiece.

It doesn't need to be.

It understood exactly what kind of story it wanted to tell.

Give me an innocent protagonist who gets brutally betrayed.

Make him absurdly powerful.

Give him an army of lovable monsters.

Create some absolutely horrible villains.

Then give those villains enough time to understand exactly how 🍩 they are before the revenge arrives.

That's my 🍩. 🤣❤️

I loved watching Light switch between terrifying revenge king and the weird little gacha-loving guy surrounded by people who genuinely adore him.

I loved Nazuna being an adorable nuclear weapon.

I loved Jack simply being a bro.

I loved the White Knights entering the tower like elite warriors and leaving as mops.

I loved Ellie suddenly activating hardcore diplomatic mode against an entire kingdom.

And I especially loved that this psychopath kept Sasha's arrow for three years just so he could return it.

The anime has problems. Light sometimes drags fights longer than necessary, the massive power gap kills most traditional tension, and some villains practically exist just to make you hate them enough to enjoy their punishment.

But did I have fun?

Absolutely.

And somewhere along the way, the revenge-obsessed Lv.9999 gacha addict even became the Abraham Lincoln of his world.

I genuinely wasn't expecting that one.

Final Rating: 8/10 ❤️🎰👑

Long live Abraham Lightcoln.
