Saving My Sweetheart Review: 129 Chapters of Pain Just to Watch Them Finally Be Happy
Saving My Sweetheart begins with abuse, curses and a doomed marriage, but becomes a beautiful story about Leticia and Ditrian building the life they lost once before. Dark, emotional, sometimes slow, but ultimately healing. An 8/10 for me.

⚠️ Major spoiler warning: This is a personal review of the complete Saving My Sweetheart, including Leticia and Ditrian's relationship, Josephina, the Wings, Julius, Rehir, Balance, Sigmund, the ending, their children, and the side stories. If you haven't finished the story, I recommend reading it first.
I Expected Another Normal Regression Romance

Start by explaining my first impression.
At first, Saving My Sweetheart looked like another regression romance: an abused heroine, an evil family, a political marriage, a curse, and a kind male lead who would eventually save her.
But the story gradually became much larger.
The Holy Empire, Josephina, the Wings, Julius, dragons, Dreamers, Rehir, Balance, Goddess Danyta, and Sigmund all became connected to Leticia and Ditrian's fate.
What looked like a simple second-chance romance eventually became a story about changing a future that had already ended tragically once before.
Ditrian and Leticia: The Reason I Loved This Story

Ditrian and Leticia are easily the heart of the story for me.
Ditrian is a king and can be serious when he needs to be, but whenever he smiles, his face becomes surprisingly innocent. Sometimes he genuinely looks like a sweet little kid when he smiles, and I found that incredibly cute.
Leticia is just as adorable around him.
She is almost like a little leech attached to Ditrian. She constantly wants to stay beside him, lean against him, sleep close to him, or simply know that he is there.
But I think that is also what makes their relationship beautiful.
Leticia spent so much of her life being afraid and abused. Around Ditrian, she finally has somewhere she feels completely safe.
Their romance isn't only about kisses or dramatic declarations.
It feels like comfort.
It feels like home.
And even after losing her memories temporarily in the side stories, Leticia looked at Ditrian and basically thought, How is this sweet man really my husband?
Apparently, even without her memories, she would fall for him again. 🤭❤️
Josephina: I Absolutely Hated This Woman

Josephina was one of those villains I genuinely wanted to see lose everything.
The way she abused Leticia already made me hate her, but then we slowly learned what she had done to the Wings and how much suffering existed inside the supposedly Holy Empire.
She treated people as tools.
She wanted obedience, worship, and control.
Meanwhile, the more people learned about Leticia, the more obvious it became who actually deserved to be called a Saintess.
Watching Josephina slowly lose her power, her Wings, her reputation, and finally everything else was extremely satisfying.
After everything she did, her final punishment felt appropriate.
Josephina finally received the Hell Premium™ package. 🔥😭
The Wings Slowly Became Leticia's Family

One thing I really enjoyed was watching the Wings change.
Under Josephina, they were treated like weapons and servants.
Around Leticia, they became people again.
Noelle, Arwin, Barnes, Callisto, Kailas, Dana, Irene, and the others gradually became less like divine servants and more like a strange giant family.
Noelle basically became Leticia Fan Club Member #001.
Arwin became the security department who always looked ready to kill anyone threatening her.
Barnes went from goofy knight to purification-fire monster and somehow eventually became a husband and father.
Callisto became one of Josephina's biggest haters.
The Wings eventually felt less like magical powers and more like the Leticia Protection Squad™.
That was one of my favorite developments in the story.
Julius: Please Stop Sacrificing Yourself

Julius deserves his own section because this man simply refused to stop sacrificing himself.
Whenever something terrible happened, Julius somehow ended up paying the price.
He protected Ditrian.
He helped Leticia.
He died.
His soul was trapped.
Rehir used him.
He sacrificed himself again.
At some point my only reaction became:
LET JULIUS REST.
That is why seeing him finally return to life and reunite with his mother was one of my favorite emotional moments.
And even in the side stories, Julius was still ready to sacrifice his own happiness because he thought he might be interfering with someone else's love.
Bro.
Please be selfish one time. 😭
Thankfully, he eventually admitted his feelings for Kailas, and the two discovered that they had secretly liked each other for years.
Julius finally got something that belonged to him.
Not a prophecy.
Not a sacrifice.
Not another responsibility.
Just someone he loved who loved him back.
Rehir, Balance and When the Story Became Much Bigger

For a long time, Josephina felt like the main enemy.
Then Rehir entered the picture and everything became much bigger.
The story started dealing with souls, fate, contracts, gods, dragons, Dreamers, and Balance.
Rehir was manipulating people and suffering from behind the scenes, and eventually the final conflict felt less like defeating one evil person and more like fighting against fate itself.
I will admit that some of this lore became complicated.
There were moments where I had to stop and think about what exactly Balance, the contracts, the souls, and the different bargains meant.
But it also made the final part of the main story feel much larger than I originally expected.
Sigmund, Goddess Danyta and the Second Chance

One thing I liked about the story is that Leticia and Ditrian didn't simply receive a free second life.
Julius sacrificed himself.
Goddess Danyta helped.
Sigmund interfered with fate.
Balance became involved.
Even a transcendent dragon ended up paying huge prices because of love and the choices he made.
All of these people helped create the possibility of another future.
But Leticia and Ditrian still had to decide what they were going to do with that opportunity.
And again and again, they chose each other.
The Final Battle Was Satisfying, but the Healing Arc Became Slow

This is probably my biggest criticism.
Once Josephina, Rehir, and the major conflicts were dealt with, the story became much slower.
That feeling of:
WHAT THE 🍩 IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT?
was mostly gone.
Some of the later healing chapters and side stories were honestly boring.
But strangely, I still liked them.
After watching these characters suffer for so long, I didn't really want another gigantic villain.
I wanted them to live.
And that is basically what the side stories gave me.
The Side Stories Were Basically Group Therapy

The side stories became the complete opposite of the main story.
Instead of curses, torture, death, and political warfare, we got romance, children, misunderstandings, and comedy.
Dana and Barnes got together.
Noelle and Arwin became a couple.
Julius and Kailas finally admitted that they loved each other.
Queen Mother Mano recovered.
Barnes became a father.
Leticia and Ditrian had twins.
Lehira and Latil became friends.
And Heintz repeatedly committed magical malpractice while Sigmund probably wondered why he had ever made a contract with this idiot.
The old Magic Tower master accidentally erased Leticia's memories.
Then he started messing around with love potions.
Then he literally collapsed a clinic around Julius and Kailas to force them to talk about their feelings.
And somehow that last plan actually worked.
After 129 chapters of psychological warfare, it honestly felt like the author said:
“Fine. Everyone gets therapy, romance, children, and stupid comedy now.”
And I was okay with that. 😂❤️
Abel and Lehira: The Future Their Parents Fought For

Abel and Lehira might be one of the best examples of how completely the future changed.
In the first life, Leticia and Ditrian barely had a future together at all.
Now they have children.
Those children grow up.
They make friends.
They have their own dreams and relationships.
Abel inherits the divine side connected to Leticia, while Lehira inherits the Dreamer and dragon-related side connected to Ditrian.
Even the relationship between Genos and the Holy Empire changes completely.
These countries were once enemies.
Now Leticia is Queen of Genos, Dana rules the Holy Empire, their children become friends, and Lehira even sees a future involving Abel and Dana and Barnes's daughter Latil.
The two royal families that were once connected through hatred and political manipulation eventually become connected through friendship and love.
That is honestly really sweet.
The Final Side Story: Remembering the Life They Lost

The final side-story chapter was probably the perfect place to end everything.
Leticia and Ditrian talk about their previous life.
Ditrian died while protecting Leticia.
He saved her, but that meant Leticia was left behind alone.
She continued suffering and eventually died too.
Ditrian also knows about the moment in that previous life when Leticia approached him while he was sleeping and intended to stab him.
But she couldn't do it.
Thinking about those moments again was painful, but this time they weren't remembering them while everything was falling apart.
They were remembering them after surviving.
They had a home.
They had children.
Their family was together.
Their friends had found their own happiness.
They had built the life that their first timeline never allowed them to have.
That is why I think this ending worked.
Their painful first life wasn't erased.
They simply created something better after it.
What I Didn't Love
I enjoyed Saving My Sweetheart, but I don't think it was perfect.
My biggest criticism is the pacing after the major conflict.
The darker parts involving Josephina, the Wings, Rehir, and the curse constantly made me want to read another chapter.
Once those threats disappeared, the story lost some of that momentum.
Some side stories were slow.
Some were genuinely a little boring.
The lore involving Balance, dragons, contracts, and souls also became more complicated than I expected from the beginning.
But neither problem destroyed my enjoyment.
In a strange way, the boring peaceful chapters were also proof that these characters had finally escaped the life they were trapped inside.
They were allowed to have normal problems.
After everything they survived, I think they deserved that.
Final Thoughts: They Finally Got to Live

When I think about Saving My Sweetheart, I don't think the story is really about regression.
For me, it is a story about love and life.
Ditrian and Leticia lost their first life together.
Ditrian died protecting her.
Leticia continued alone and eventually died too.
Then, through the help and sacrifices of people like Julius, Sigmund, Goddess Danyta, the Wings, and others, they were given another possibility.
But receiving another chance wasn't the most important part.
The important part was what they built with it.
Leticia found somewhere she felt safe.
Ditrian got to live beside the woman he loved.
Julius came home.
Their families healed.
Their friends found happiness.
And Leticia and Ditrian eventually had Abel and Lehira, two children who represented a future that once seemed impossible.
Even after everything, my favorite parts are sometimes the smallest ones.
Ditrian smiling with that ridiculously innocent face.
Leticia constantly wanting to stay close to him.
The two of them simply sitting beside each other without worrying about who would die next.
That is what their victory looks like.
Not defeating a god.
Not becoming the strongest people in the world.
Just being able to wake up tomorrow and still have each other.
Saving My Sweetheart is a story about two people who lost their first life together, then used their second chance to build the life they should have had.
It became slower after the darkness disappeared, and some of the later chapters weren't as exciting for me.
But I still loved watching these characters finally heal.
Saving My Sweetheart — 8/10. 🥺❤️
A good story.
A beautiful romance.
And most importantly, a story where the characters eventually earned the right to simply live.
