Here is the easiest way to watch Assassination Classroom without getting confused.

Assassination Classroom looks simple at first. There are only two main seasons, so you might think you can start watching immediately without checking anything.

Then you discover the OVAs, a recap movie, a fantasy spin-off, two live-action movies, and a new anime movie released in 2026.

Suddenly, a series about students trying to kill their teacher has a surprisingly confusing watch order.

Thankfully, the main story itself is very easy to follow. Here is the best Assassination Classroom watch order for first-time viewers.

The Simple Assassination Classroom Watch Order

For most viewers, this is the order I recommend:

  • Assassination Classroom Season 1

  • Assassination Classroom Season 2

  • Assassination Classroom: The Movie – 365 Days

  • Koro Sensei Quest!

  • Assassination Classroom: Our Time

The first season contains 22 episodes, while the second and final season contains 25 episodes. Together, the two seasons tell the complete main story of Class 3-E and Koro-sensei.

Everything after Season 2 is either additional material, a recap, a spin-off, or a movie expanding parts of the original story.

1. Assassination Classroom Season 1

Season 1 is where everything begins.

A mysterious yellow creature has destroyed most of the Moon and claims that he will destroy Earth next. However, before doing that, he strangely asks to become the teacher of Class 3-E.

The government gives the students a nearly impossible mission: assassinate their teacher before graduation.

This season introduces Koro-sensei, Nagisa Shiota, Karma Akabane, Kaede Kayano, Tadaomi Karasuma, Irina Jelavić, and the rest of Class 3-E.

Do not skip anything here. Season 1 builds the relationships that make the second season so emotionally powerful.

2. Assassination Classroom Season 2

Season 2 continues directly after Season 1 and completes the main story.

The assassination attempts become more serious, the students grow stronger, and we finally begin learning the truth about Koro-sensei’s past.

This is also where Assassination Classroom changes from a funny school anime into something much more emotional.

Watch all 25 episodes before touching the movies or spin-offs. Several of the optional releases contain major character and ending spoilers.

And yes, prepare yourself emotionally. The final episodes hurt much more than you might expect from an anime that begins with students shooting their teacher.

3. Assassination Classroom: Extracurricular Lesson

Extracurricular Lesson adapts several smaller stories that were left out of the television anime.
Extracurricular Lesson adapts several smaller stories that were left out of the television anime.

Assassination Classroom: Extracurricular Lesson is a collection of short episodes adapting manga material that was not included in the main television series.

The shorts include additional stories involving Takebayashi and several other Class 3-E students. They are not required to understand the ending, but they provide more time with characters who received less attention in the main anime.

Technically, these stories happen during Season 2. However, first-time viewers can simply watch them after finishing Season 2 rather than interrupting the main story.

Consider this optional bonus content for viewers who want more time with Class 3-E.

4. Assassination Classroom: The Movie – 365 Days

Nagisa and Karma revisit their old classroom and remember their year with Koro-sensei.
Nagisa and Karma revisit their old classroom and remember their year with Koro-sensei.

The 365 Days movie takes place after the anime’s ending.

It follows Nagisa and Karma as they return to their old classroom and remember the time they spent with Koro-sensei.

Most of the movie is a recap of the two seasons, although it also includes a small amount of new material surrounding the characters’ reunion.

Because of that, you should never watch it before completing Season 2. It would spoil almost every important reveal and emotional moment in the anime.

The movie is optional, but it can be a nostalgic experience if you watch it sometime after completing the series.

5. Koro Sensei Quest!

Koro Sensei Quest transforms Class 3-E into a chaotic fantasy RPG party.
Koro Sensei Quest transforms Class 3-E into a chaotic fantasy RPG party.

Koro Sensei Quest! is a comedy spin-off set in an alternate fantasy world.

Instead of being ordinary students, Class 3-E becomes a party of heroes with hilariously broken abilities. Koro-sensei becomes the Demon King they are supposed to defeat.

The spin-off contains 12 short episodes and does not continue the main storyline. It is simply a fun fantasy parody featuring familiar characters.

You can technically watch it whenever you want, but watching it after Season 2 is safer because some jokes and character appearances make more sense once you know the complete cast.

6. Assassination Classroom: Our Time

Our Time brings Class 3-E back with stories that were not fully adapted in the original television anime.
Our Time brings Class 3-E back with stories that were not fully adapted in the original television anime.

Assassination Classroom: Our Time, also known as Everyone’s Time or Minna no Jikan, is the newest anime movie in the franchise.

It was released in Japanese cinemas on March 20, 2026 as part of the anime’s tenth-anniversary project. The film adapts material from the manga that the original television series could not include because of time limitations.

Although parts of the story happen during the students’ school year, first-time viewers should watch it after Season 2. The movie assumes that you already understand the characters, their relationships, and the ending of the original anime.

It is currently available through Crunchyroll with Japanese and English audio options.

For fans who wished the anime had spent more time with every member of Class 3-E, this is probably the most important piece of additional content.

What About the Original 2013 OVA?

Before the television series existed, Assassination Classroom received an OVA produced by Brain’s Base.

It mainly adapts the school trip storyline and uses a different production team from the later Lerche television anime. The OVA was released with the seventh manga volume in December 2013.

You do not need to watch it because the television anime adapts the same general part of the story.

However, dedicated fans may enjoy watching it after Season 1 to see an earlier animated version of Assassination Classroom.

What About the Live-Action Movies?

There are two Japanese live-action films:

Assassination Classroom
Assassination Classroom
Assassination Classroom: Graduation
Assassination Classroom: Graduation

These movies retell the main story with live actors. They are separate adaptations rather than continuations of the anime.

Watch them after finishing the anime if you are interested in seeing another interpretation of the story. They are completely optional and should not replace the two anime seasons for a first-time viewer.

Can You Skip the Movies and OVAs?

Yes.

The only essential Assassination Classroom releases are:

Assassination Classroom Season 1
Assassination Classroom Season 2

Those two seasons give you the complete central storyline.

After that, Our Time is the most valuable addition because it adapts stories that were missing from the television anime.

The 365 Days movie is mostly a recap, Koro Sensei Quest! is an alternate-universe comedy, and the older OVAs are optional extras.

Final Recommended Watch Order

Here is the complete order one final time:

  • Assassination Classroom Season 1

  • Assassination Classroom Season 2

  • Assassination Classroom: Extracurricular Lesson

  • Assassination Classroom: The Movie – 365 Days

  • Koro Sensei Quest!

  • Assassination Classroom: Our Time

  • The 2013 OVA and live-action movies — optional

Assassination Classroom may have several extra releases, but the main journey is wonderfully simple: begin with Season 1, continue directly into Season 2, and prepare to become far more emotionally attached to a dangerous yellow teacher than you ever expected.
